General Information


The Light Tank M3 (Stuart I)also known as Stuart I was a light tank , 5811 of which were used by the americans between 1940 and 1945.

The vehicle was manned by a crew of 4 and was 2.26 metres wide, 4.58 metres long, 2.54 metres high and weighed 12.3 tonnes.

Powered by a 250hp petrol engine the Light Tank M3 (Stuart I) was capable of a road speed of 36mph and a cross country speed of 20mph. The 54 gallon fuel capacity gave the Light Tank M3 (Stuart I) a road range of 130 miles

Based on the light tank chassis, the vehicle was armed with 5 light machine guns, a 37mm Antitank Gun M6 with a muzzle velocity of 885m/sec which was capable of penetrating 48mm of armour at 800metres
