General Information
The PzKpfw VI Ausf E (Tiger) SdKfz 181 based on the existing fully tracked Tiger and was in use from 1942 to 1944.

It was armed with 2 light machine guns. Its main armament consisted of a 8.8cm Kwk 36 L/56 which could penetrate 171 mm of flat plate at 200 metres

The Tiger was the first large tank designed during the Second World War, and initially provided a vehicle which the Allies had great difficulty in destroying. Introduced in July 1942 production of the 1354 vehicles ended in August 1944.

Its 88mm high velocity gun firing a 10.4Kg shell at 1000M/Sec could penetrate 226mm armour at 500 metres which would penetrate all Allied tanks at that range.

Its 100mm frontal armour would defeat most allied guns until the advent of the 17pdr late in the war.

Hit probability is based on a static 2 x 2.4 metre panel at 0 degrees(vertical) at the range specified.

The data that has been used to create these records has come from Wikipedia, The Lone Sentry, The Bundes Archive and numerous books and websites that have provided the detailed information that has not been available anywhere else. The information we use to calculate the penetration tables, flight times and the hit probability comes from the Gun Calibre, the Shell Mass(Kg) and the muzzle velocity, plus range reductions to allow for gravity and wind resistance. This calculation originally came from a pre-war Krupp calculation which has been modified, and seems to fit the actual test results.
